Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield has been fascinating his Twitter followers with some spectacular pictures from space in recent weeks and last night he posted one of his best yet.

Hadfield has provided some brilliant entertainment from the International Space Station for the last few weeks, whether it’s been through some extraordinary snapshots of earth from above or videos of how astronauts accomplish mundane tasks like cutting their toenails in space.

Last night he announced that he had reached a quarter of a million followers on Twitter and almost as a reward of sorts, he posted a stunning image of the Australian outback from space, which could easily pass for the work of a genius watercolour painter or the result of a child’s first experience with a few crayons and a blank canvass.

A couple of hours prior to that, he also posted a spectacular shot of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge from above, which doesn’t look like much until you look really closely and spot the shadow of the bridge just underneath.

Keep ‘em comin’ Chris.
