Come quick! There’s a giant turntable on Wexford Street

Get mixing

JOE

Well, I never…

This area of Dublin is no stranger to odd happenings. If you’ve ever been outside Flannery’s pub at 2am you will be well aware of this.

Nonetheless, we’re pretty sure this is a first: a gigantic turntable mounted on the side of a wall.

We reckon it would take some size of a DJ to mix on this thing… does anyone have Cian Healy’s number?

You’re probably asking yourself ‘what is this all for?’

We asked the same question and we have been reliably informed that Desperados have innovated the traditional billboard with a bit of absurd-ism.

We were pretty shocked when we first saw the 3D turntable. The surprise soon went away when we realised it was related to Desperados.

These guys are experts in adding the absurd into the normal. These are the same people who mixed tequila with beer to create the drink you usually spot at a party before things really kicks off.

The display combines a seemingly normal billboard with an unexpected, fun 3D build of a turntable for passers-by on Wexford Street, Dublin.

The 3D turntable, which features a record 5.5 metres in diameter, turns slowly and extends to include a 3D needle which is lit with high powered LED lighting.

The billboard leads to Spotify where a custom built Desperados playlist lives. This playlist was generated by Desperados drinkers’ favourite tunes! Check out Spotify-dsp.com for the playlist.

Those that pass the billboard are invited to take a photo and tweet it to @Desperados_ie to win a Desperados House party pack with the ultimate pre-party essentials! Pretty cool, eh?
