Connolly Station is back open after the Army attended to a suspect item

Iarnród Éireann shared footage of the Army in work.

Iarnród Éireann has confirmed that Connolly Station has reopened after a security alert and they released the following statement via Twitter: “Security alert lifted, Connolly Station reopening after Army attended to suspect item, historic in nature. Full services resuming, delays remaining but will ease.”

Earlier this afternoon. the station was on lockdown “pending army attending suspect item in the station area.”

The Gardaí have also released a brief statement.

They said: “Connolly Station has now reopened following an earlier incident. The security alert has now been lifted. Roads in the area have reopened and rail services are expected to resume shortly. Thank you for all your assistance.”

With regards to normal service being resumed, Iarnród Éireann has said that it’s “too soon to say, there will be knock-on delays, we will post updates as soon as we know more, at present you can take DART to Malahide from Tara and change there for Enterprise.”

All commuters are advised to monitor Iarnród Éireann’s Twitter account for the latest updates.
