A new survey revealed by the Irish Business Against Litter shows that Ireland is getting cleaner by the year…
According to the Irish Business Against Litter’s final survey for 2014, a record 85% of our towns and cities were Clean to European Norms last year.
It probably won’t come as a surprise, but Kilkenny was named as the cleanest town in Ireland for a third year in a row. Fair play, folks.
Dublin’s North Inner City showed a big improvement on previous surveys, leaving Farranree in Cork as the only area surveyed which was deemed a ‘litter blackspot’.

“This was the first time in our survey that we found a marked improvement in Dublin’s North Inner City, with a threefold increase in litter-free sites, and that could be a turning point,” said IBAL spokesperson Conor Horgan.
“Dublin City Council made it clear some months ago that a concerted effort would be invested in cleaning up this area and the first fruits of that work are already evident.
“We look forward to Dublin Inner City being Clean to European Norms in 2015, which would be a huge boost for our Capital.”
Speaking about Kilkenny’s success, Mr Hogan said: “Kilkenny’s sustained success has set the standard for others to follow, in demonstrating year after year that it is possible to keep a busy city, which entertains lots of visitors, consistently free of litter.”
