Have you been made fun of all your life for being a computer nerd?
Well, there’s some good news on the horizon. A study released by the Higher Education Authority today has revealed that graduates with degrees in computer science are most likely to earn the most right after they leave college.
According to the Irish Times, 62% of computer science/information and communications technology graduates were earning €29,000 soon after leaving college.
This is in stark contrast with those who graduate with arts degrees, 25% of whom are earning less than €13,000 in their first year after leaving college.
Other courses likely to yield decent pay in the aftermath of undergrad are agriculture, engineering, health and welfare and veterinary science.
For those who graduated in the humanities (in degrees such as arts, journalism, law and business) – the first year salary for 34% was between €21,000 and €32,999.
So in case you’ve ever been told that spending all that time on your computer is ruining your future, now you know that what’s really been holding you back is not enough time spent on your computer.
