54 further Covid-19 deaths, 1,006 new cases

The latest Covid figures have been released.

54 further Covid-19 deaths have been confirmed, as well as 1,006 new cases.

45 of these deaths occurred in February, five occurred in January and four are still under investigation.

The median age of those who died was 86 years and the age range was between 48 – 104 years.

516 of today’s cases are in Dublin, while 63 are in Cork, 46 are in Galway, 43 are in Meath, 36 are in Louth and the remaining 302 cases are spread across all other counties.

As of 8am today, 1,032 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised across the country, of which 173 are in ICU. 40 additional hospitalisations have occurred in the past 24 hours.

There has now been a total of 205,939 confirmed cases of the virus in Ireland, while the Covid death toll stands at 3,794.

As of 7 February, 240,487 vaccines have been administered across the country.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Northern Ireland Department of Health reported that a further 336 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, a further four deaths have also been reported up north.
