Body found in search for missing Dublin man Dean McCann

Gardaí have stood down the search for 28-year-old Dean McCann following the discovery of a body on Sunday.

The search for missing Dublin man Dean McCann has been officially stood down by Gardaí following the discovery of a body of a man in Galway.

The body was found on Sunday (13 February) in Dangan.

“Following the recovery of a body in Dangan, Galway on Sunday 13 February, 2022, the missing person appeal in respect of Dean McCann, 28 years, has been stood down,” notes a statement issued by Gardaí on Monday afternoon.

McCann had been reported missing from his home in Drumcondra since the first week of February.

He was last sighted at an ATM in Eyre Square on the morning of Saturday, 6 February.

Shortly afterwards, McCann’s family, alongside An Garda Síochána, issued a series of public appeals in a bid to trace his whereabouts.

Gardaí have thanked both the media and the public for their assistance in this matter, adding that no further action is required.
