Donald Trump is now officially the Republican nominee in the US presidential race

JOE

The Republican party have spoken.

Donald Trump has reached the required number of delegates needed to claim the Republican nomination for President, according to Reuters.

Trump became the presumptive nominee after John Kasich suspended his campaign for the presidency earlier this month, however, it was only earlier today that he officially became the parties main candidate.

It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination for President and Trump received one more than that, with 1,238 delegates endorsing his campaign.

Despite being hugely controversial and disliked by certain people and groups, the momentum behind the businessman is building.
