Our capital has come a long way since 2012.
Dublin has jumped two places to 20th in the list of the most reputable cities in the world, a list published annually by the Reputations Agency and the Reputation Institute’s 2016 City RepTrak®, the world’s largest annual survey of city reputations.
The survey, based on more than 22,000 consumer ratings collected in the G8 countries, ranks the world’s 55 most reputable cities based on levels of trust, esteem, admiration and respect.
The survey, which can be read in full here (registration required) ranked Sydney in first place for the second year in a row, followed by Vienna, Zurich, Toronto and Stockholm in the top five.
European cities such as Edinburgh, Rome, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Venice, Barcelona, Madrid, Frankfurt and Amsterdam also earned a high ranking, with Dublin sneaking into the top 20 (see full list below) having ranked in 22nd last year and in 30th in 2012.

News of Dublin’s progression up the list follows on from Ireland having been named in the top ten most reputable countries in the world in a similar report from the Reputation Institute earlier this year.
Turns out Ireland’s not such a bad place to live after all.
