Dublin woman uses Facebook to describe a harrowing attempted sexual assault last night

Carl Kinsella

This isn’t pleasant reading.

A young woman was attacked as she made her way home through Shankill, Dublin last night.

Two hours ago, the woman took to Facebook to describe the events of the attack, noting that she was followed into her estate by a man who seemed to be in his 40s.

The girl went on to express that she was ‘lucky’ she was so close to home. She escaped the man’s efforts to drag her into the trees by ‘yelling her head off’ and giving him ‘a sharp kick.’

She has reported the incident to the Gardaí. Here is the statement in full:

Her post clearly resonates with Facebook users, as it garnered 1.8 thousand shares in the two hours since it has been published.
