Back at number one.
Having fallen behind Super Valu and Tesco towards the tail end of last year, Dunnes Stores is once again the most popular supermarket with Irish consumers.
The latest figures from Kantar Worldpanel reveal that Dunnes Stores had a 22.7% grocery market share for the 12-week period up to the end of January, putting it ahead of nearest rivals SuperValu (22.5%) and Tesco (22.4%) by the slightest of margins.
Perhaps not surprisingly, retailers have not sustained the same level of growth achieved over the Christmas period, while the supply issues affecting fresh produce due to severe weather conditions around Europe have also had an impact.
Despite only having 10.6% of the market share, meanwhile, Aldi continues to be the fastest growing retailer in the country, with shoppers now visiting the retailer 8.7 times every 12 weeks, compared to 8.1 times for the same period last year, increasing sales by 6.3% in the process.
