Announcing it today, Enda? Don’t you know there are more important matters at hand?
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has today confirmed his intention to hold a General Election in spring of next year.
There had been speculation last week that there could be an election as early as November of this year, but Kenny told The Week In Politics on RTE today that he intends to hold the election in Spring 2016.
Taoiseach @EndaKennyTD tells #Twip my intention has always been to have the general election in 2016 and I see nothing to change that

The Taoiseach said that he has been consistent about wanting to hold an election at that time and stressed the importance of Fine Gael and Labour going in on a joint platform.
No need to think about the polls for a few months yet then folks; besides, we’ve got a more important one for you to think about for the day that’s in it.
