Enda Kenny will step down during his second term as Taoiseach (if he wins one, that is)

Louis Van Gaal told us just before the season started that he intends to leave United after three years at the helm because of a promise he made to his wife.

Well, it turns out that Enda Kenny has something similar in mind. While the current Taoiseach will lead Fine Gael into the next general election, he has publicly stated that he ‘has no intention’ to ‘stay beyond the remit of the next government to be Taoiseach’.

Mr. Kenny made the comments after Fine Gael Chief Whip Paul Kehoe said last week that the Taoiseach intended to lead Fine Gael into the general election after next.

The Taoiseach also clarified that it would be incredibly arrogant of him to assume that he will still be Taoiseach after the next general election and hereby ordered us all not to ‘jinx it’*.

*He might not have said that last part.
