Woman in her 50s dies following single-car collision in Dublin

The incident took place during the early hours of Sunday morning.

A woman has died following a fatal road traffic collision that took place in Dublin in the early hours of Sunday morning, 31 October.

At approximately 1.45am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car at Davitt Road in Drimnagh, Dublin 12.

The pedestrian, a woman understood to be in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Her body has been removed to Dublin City Morgue in Whitehall, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Following an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, the road has reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who was travelling on the Davitt Road area between 1am and 1.45am on Sunday morning is asked to make contact with Gardaí, particularly any road users who may have camera footage.
