The rate of accidents involving handcuffs in the bedroom has been on the rise recently, after what’s being dubbed ‘the Fifty Shades of Grey effect’ takes hold…

Kinky couples have been getting into a bit of trouble recently with handcuffs, according to ITV News after a huge increase in the rate of accidents has been noted by the fire brigade.

Firefighters have been called out to 79 incidents (that’s about ten more than the number we expected…) in London recently, in particular since the Fifty Shades book series hit shelves and took off as a global phenomenon.

There’s been no word yet on if we’ve seen a similar increase here in Ireland, but the key (see what we’ve done there) to the whole thing, according to the London Fire Brigade, is to keep the keys themselves pretty handy, so that you don’t end up tied to the bed with nowhere to go.
