There are some great images here…
Thousands of athletes took the streets of the capital this afternoon as the Dublin Marathon celebrated its 35th year.
14,000 people took part this year as over 4,000 runners from 47 different countries were joined by Irish entrants and as always there was a massive crowd out in force.
It was a Kenyan double as Eliud Too was the winner of the mens SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon 2014 , crossing the line in a time of 2:14:47. Sergiu Ciobanu was the Irish champion.
Ester Macharia, also of Kenya, won the ladies race with a time of two hours and 34 minutes while last years champion Maria McCambridge finished just two seconds behind her to take the national title.
There was a new course record set in the wheelchair race as Irish athlete Patrick Monahan smashed the previous record by five minutes with a time of one hour and 52 minutes.
A special mention should also go to those athletes who took part in a bid to raise funds for the various charities/ groups that they’re supporting.
Well done to all involved.
