Gardaí appeal for information after ‘suspicious’ restaurant fire in Cork city

Tony Cuddihy

Gardaí in Cork are looking for information after a fire at a restaurant in the city was deemed to have started ‘under suspicious circumstances.’

According to Red FM, emergency services were called to the scene of a fire at the N Square Steakhouse & Seafood Restaurant on Camden Quay at 5.30am on the morning of Wednesday 8 June.

Around 100 people had to be evacuated from neighbouring properties as six units from Cork City Fire Brigade battled the blaze. Nobody was hurt.

However, now a technical examination of the scene has determined that the fire started in suspicious circumstances.

Gardaí are now appealing for any mobile phone footage or images of the blaze, and would like to talk to any witnesses who were in the area at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Watercourse Road Garda Station 021-4558260 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
