Gardaí say they continue to have “an open mind” in the direction of the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing to the public for information following the fatal assault of a woman in Dublin.

Shortly before 3.30pm on Tuesday (10 May), Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of the body of a woman in her 50s in a house in Sandyhill Gardens in Ballymun, Dublin 11.

The body had received physical injuries and has been taken to the City Morgue in Whitehall.

A post-mortem will be carried out by the Chief State Pathologist on Wednesday.

A Garda spokesperson said that an incident room has been established at Ballymun Garda Station under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer and that a family liaison officer has been appointed to the family of the deceased.

This is as Gardaí say they continue to have “an open mind” in the direction of the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have any information in relation to the incident to contact them at Ballymun Garda Station on 01 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
