Gardaí make arrest and seize large amount of cash in investigation into Insurance ‘Ghost ‘Brokers’

Numerous searches were conducted by Gardaí on Wednesday morning.

Gardaí arrested a man in his mid-30s as part of ongoing investigation surrounding the activities of insurance ‘Ghost Brokers’ on Wednesday.

Gardaí from the Special Investigation Unit DMR Traffic, assisted by members from the Criminal Assets Bureau and the Cyber Crime Unit, conducted numerous searches on Wednesday morning and arrested a man after searching a house in Lucan in Dublin.

During the searches, a large amount of cash was seized, along with a number of high-value watches, five motor vehicles, an imitation firearm and a small quantity of drugs. Six bank accounts with an amount in excess of €200,000 have also been frozen.

The man that was arrested is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Further searches are currently being undertaken.
