Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that took place around 9pm on Monday night near Cahir in County Tipperary.
A man in his 70s died when the car he was driving collided with a second vehicle on the M8 Motorway.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Cork University Hospital. The driver of the second car involved in the incident received minor injuries and was also taken to Cork University Hospital.
The M8 between J11 and J12 south bound is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
