The prisoner has been “unlawfully at large” since Monday evening.
A search is ongoing for a prisoner who absconded from Loughan House in Cavan.
The prisoner escaped from the open, low-security prison on Monday evening (4 October).
In a statement to JOE, an Irish Prison Service spokesperson said: “The Irish Prison Service can confirm a prisoner absconded from Loughan House on 4 October.
“An Garda Síochána have been notified.”
A Garda spokesperson confirmed to JOE that Gardaí are helping in the search for the prisoner.
“Cavan Gardaí are assisting the Irish Prison Service in tracing the whereabouts of a prisoner unlawfully at large since yesterday evening, 4 October,” they said.
