Dublin has been named the ‘favourite worldwide city’ at the Trazee Awards ceremony held in Orlando, Florida this weekend.

Trazee is a fancy travel company that gathers data from around the world on the various allures that make a city worth visiting, so it’s safe to assume that these guys know what they’re talking about.

Research for the awards was conducted by the company, who target young travellers between the ages of 18 and 35. The website collated nominations by their own contributors as well as those submitted online by users of the website.

Additionally, Irish airline Aer Lingus won “favourite airline in Europe.” We’re not sure if Ryanair was in contention for that particular accolade.

Ireland has had a good year for tourism, with a 15 per cent growth in visitors to the country from North America in the first half of 2015. Prizes like the one achieved at the Trazee Awards are nothing but good news for the tourism industry and the Irish economy.

Hat-tip to The Independent.
