Hogzilla, a wild boar that many American had presumed to be fictional, has been shot and killed by hunter Jett Webb.
The giant beast was longer than eight feet and weighed more than 36 stones when it met its maker or, in this case, the business end of Webb’s powerful AR-10 rifle.
“It was very surreal,” said Jett.
“It was a shock. It was very humbling to say the least, when you walk up on a beast that big and you say, ‘Oh my gosh.’
“I had no idea that there could be something that big running around the woods of Eastern North Carolina.”
Webb revealed the secret to his prey, who broke the scales when it was weighed at 36 stones.
“The sweet-tasting corn and a night-hunting light was too much for this oversized, heap of pork chops,” he Kurt Russelled.
Members of the White Oak Ranch Hunting Club had been trying to capture Hogzilla for years, convincing Webb to join the pursuit, and he tracked him for more than a month.
“We have pictures of him going back to 2011,” Michael Mansell, president of the North Carolina club said.
“He was a hard one to get on the ground for he moved around a great deal.
“These hogs are smart; we stay scent free, watch the wind and hunt from elevated stands. His head and shoulders were still on the skinning shed floor when we tried to weigh him.
“He was that big the scales couldn’t handle him.”
