Venues in Kildare and Limerick also feature in the top ten of Europe’s finest resorts…
It’s been a very good few days for Irish tourism with widespread and critical confirmation of a fact that all of us knew along ago, Ireland is a beautiful country for new visitors to explore.
Fresh from hearing that that Ireland was named fifth on Lonely Planet’s list of countries that you need to visit in 2015 is the news that four Irish hotels have been named in the top ten of Europe’s finest resorts.
The readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine have named four Irish hotels amongst their top 10 European resorts and this achievement is very significant especially considering that the list is comprised of over one million votes gathered from almost 77,000 readers.
The Top 10 resorts in Europe are as follows:
Sheen Falls Lodge, Co. Kerry
Ashford Castle, Co. Mayo
Blue Palace Resort, Crete
Kildare Hotel at the K Club, Co. Kildare
The Gleneagles hotel, Scotland
Badrutt’s Palace, Switzerland
Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, Switzerland
Villa d’Este, Lake Como, Italy
Old Course Hotel, Scotland
Adare Manor, Co. Limerick
The five-star Sheen Falls Lodge, which overlooks the Sheen Waterfalls, was described as having “first-class service” and “very pretty views” according to the magazine while Mayo’s Ashford Castle is “in a class of its own” with ““beautiful grounds and fantastic recreational activities”.
Congratulations must also go to the staff at the K Club and Adare Manor while Connemara’s Ballynahinch Castle was also ranked 23rd.
