A gorse fire on the Dublin headland looked for all the world like an erupting volcano this morning.
One of the less pleasant aspects of this glorious weather is the increased risk of fire. Howth Head in Dublin is always prone to gorse fires in dry spells and this morning the city woke up to see a huge plume of smoke billowing from the popular walking spot. The Dublin Fire Service had been battling the blaze overnight but it restarted sometime around 5am.
And this fantastic shot, taken by Roisin O’Hea from the other side of Dublin Bay, makes it look like a volcano is erupting.
