Businesses in Cork have been warned to check all of their €50 notes after a counterfeit version was handed over in Coachford.
Gardaí in the county say it is the first such incident in a number of months.
The note was handed over between 5.30pm and 6pm to the unsuspecting shopkeeper, according to the Southern Star.
There is, as yet, no description of the customer involved but Gardaí are warning both customers and business owners to be vigilant.
