A host of well-known faces from the world of sport and entertainment will gather in Galway this weekend for the Samaritans Celebrity Soccer Match at Terryland Park.

Former Ireland goalkeeper Packie Bonner may even end up re-enacting the famous ‘Timofte versus Bonner’ penalty save from Italia ’90 as he lines out alongside the likes of Moone Boy actor John O’Dowd, RTE Sport’s Tony O’Donoghue, members of the Hardy Bucks and JOE.ie and Her.ie owner Niall McGarry at Terryland Park on Friday night.

A host of League of Ireland players and GAA All-Stars, Fair City cast members and more surprise guests will also be togging out for the charity match, which is sponsored by Lifes2good and being staged in conjunction with the Galway Football Association.

Charities ACT for Meningitis and Samaritans Galway have come together to host this fabulous evening of soccer and entertainment and the fun doesn’t stop on the pitch as Monroes Live will be hosting a VIP after-party and will be issuing half-price entry vouchers for all ticket holders over 18.

ACT for Meningitis is a non-profit organisation based in Galway, Ireland. It was established in 2011 by Siobhán and Noel Carroll, who lost their precious daughter Aoibhe, aged 4, to Meningitis in 2008. ACT is here to offer support to everyone affected by Meningitis while also raising awareness of this life-changing disease.

Samaritans are available whenever you are; 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
