It looks like some seriously bad weather is going to hit Ireland tomorrow

Batten down the hatches, seriously

Joe Harrington

Batten down the hatches, seriously.

Just when we thought the weather was improving a wee bit and a little bit of hope entered our hearts, Met Éireann have dropped a hammer blow.

They’ve issued an Orange level weather warning for Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary for Friday (tomorrow).

According to their site, they expect widespread, very heavy rain, and some thundery downpours to develop Thursday night and persist through Friday.

They added that those conditions will lead spot flooding and possibly accumulations of 35 to 50mm, but up to 70mm possibly on hilly ground and on mountains.

Here’s the official line on “Orange” level warnings.

“Orange level weather warnings is for weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas.

The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.”

Christ. Be careful out there.
