High praise indeed.
Ireland is renowned for the quality of our tourist accommodation and our reputation in the eyes of the world has just received a massive boost.
Ashford Castle in Co. Mayo was last night named as Hotel of the Year at the Virtuoso Best of the Best Awards in Las Vegas.

Rooms in the hotel in Cong, which has recently undergone a multi-million euro makeover, cost approximately €500 a night and it was the subject of fulsome praise from Virtuoso, which describes itself as the industry’s leading luxury travel network.
Ashford Castle managed to fight off competition from over 1,000 hotels worldwide to claim the award, which comes shortly after it was voted as the third best hotel in the world by US magazine Travel + Leisure.
Well played lads.
