Prepare to be thrown all over the shop by that wind.
You’ve probably noticed by now that Storm Gertrude hit overnight and has affected the power of thousands of homes and businesses.
Status Yellow warnings remain in place for counties such as Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo until midday today, with winds expected at about 100 km/r.

According to Met Éireann, the rest of the country will still feel the cold and wind throughout the day, with temperatures expected to be about 7 to 11 degrees. Temperatures will drop significantly in the north tonight, with frost and ice expected.
Saturday is expected to be very cold, with temperatures due to peak at only 7 degrees. It should remain dry for the most part, but Ulster may be hit with a few wintry showers.
Sunday is set to be the warmest day of the weekend, at about 11 to 13 degress. This will come at a cost though as rain is anticipated through the first half of the day, but should ease off thereafter.
So, there you have it. It looks like we’re passed the worst of the winds, but it doesn’t exactly look like it’s going to be balmy out over the weekend.
