The American Pie actor has spoken out after receiving criticism for an insensitive tweet on Thursday.
Jason Biggs feels that people need to concentrate on more important issues than the fact that he wrote, “Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?” on Twitter after a Malaysian Airlines plane carrying 295 people had been shot down over Ukraine.
“For everything that’s out there people are gonna have every range of a reaction, so you can’t please everybody I guess,” he told a TMZ photographer.
“The bottom line is that it’s a horrible thing that happened and I would never… I don’t want it to be misinterpreted that I joked at their expense, so if I did that I do apologise.”
After initially responding angrily to people who were offended by his tweet, Biggs finally apologised and deleted the initial message.
“Hey all- ok, so- I am deleting my previous tweets. People were offended, and that was not my intent. Sorry to those of you that were,” the Orange Is The New Black star wrote to his 448,000 followers.
