Katie Hopkins has entered IVA to avoid bankruptcy

She did it on the sly too.

The ever-controversial Katie Hopkins has entered into an IVA to avoid bankruptcy.

An Individual Voluntary Agreement, or an IVA, is a formal alternative for individuals wishing to avoid bankruptcy.

Hopkins lost a libel case against a celebrity cook Jack Monroe in 2017, and was made to pay £24,000 in damages.

She was found to have wrongly accused Monroe of defacing a war memorial at a protest.

Monroe took to Twitter to announce the news on Saturday night.

Monroe revealed that she had not been able to reveal the information for legal reasons until now.

The author also took one last dig at Hopkins, saying: “The arbitrary defender of free speech didn’t want anyone to know, ironically…”

Another tweet followed explaining the extent of Hopkins’ financial state, saying: “I have been paid in full, but many of her creditors, including my lawyer, will not be paid what they are owed.

“For the want of an apology, a house, a job, a column, a radio show, and now financial solvency, were lost. It’s all very sad, actually.”
