Kildare animal welfare volunteer claims reports about dog being cooked alive are not accurate

The volunteer was called out to tend to the animal on Monday morning

The volunteer was called out to tend to the animal on Monday morning.

A volunteer from the Kildare and West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (KWWSPCA) has claimed that reports about a dog being cooked alive over a fire near the Curragh have been misinterpreted.

Reports claimed that the dog, who was found in a terrible state in an area of charred rubbish, had been hog-tied and was cooked alive, eventually dying from horrific injuries sustained.

The reports understandably prompted outrage and even led to animal rights group ARAN offering a €3,500 reward to find the culprit or culprits responsible.

According to RTE News, however, a volunteer for the KWWSPCA has claimed that those reports were inaccurate, saying that the dog was not hog-tied or roasted on a spit.

She claims that while the dog had scorch marks on his ankles and that his hair was singed, they did not know the cause of death but they suspected that it was because of malnutrition.

The volunteer added that there was evidence of heat injuries but that the dog had suffered no third degree burns and that comments made by the vet who treated the dog may have been misinterpreted.
