A British Labour MP has died of her wounds after being shot and stabbed by an attacker at her advice clinic in West Yorkshire.
Jo Cox, an MP for Batley and Spen, had been rushed to hospital after the attack in which a 77-year-old man also suffered injuries.
Cox, who was just 41, described herself in her Twitter bio as a “Mum. Proud Yorkshire Lass. Labour MP for Batley & Spen. Boat dweller. Mountain climber. Former aid worker.”
Tributes have poured in for Cox, including from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn who described her as a “much loved colleague”.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident on Market Street, and the police have said that they aren’t seeking anyone else.
