Tragic news.
It has been confirmed that nine people have died as a result of a major fire in Carrickmines in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
Several units of the Dublin Fire Brigade and emergency services were called to a fire on a halting site on the Glenamuck Road near Carrickmines Golf Club at approximately 4am this morning.

Gardai have confirmed that nine people died in the fire, including a number of children, all of whom were under the age of 10.
It is also believed that most, if not all of the victims, belonged to two families.
In a statement in the wake of the tragedy, President Michael D Higgins said: “My thoughts at this time are with the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and those who have been injured.
“I have asked to be kept informed on this shocking event throughout the day.”
