Gardaí are investigating an assault in Tramore in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A man has died following a fatal assault in Tramore, County Waterford, in the early hours of Saturday.
The man died of his injuries at University Hospital Waterford early on Sunday morning.
The incident took place on Lower Strand Street in the town.
The 54-year-old was discovered unconscious on the street, with a 20-year-old man arrested by police for questioning. This man is expected to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court at 1pm on Sunday.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or to anyone who was in the Lower Strand Street area between 1.30 and 2.30am on Saturday 24th June to contact them at Tramore Garda Station on 051 391620 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
