He didn’t hold back…
Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland Martin McGuinness has hit out Theresa May’s government over their handling of Brexit.
Speaking on to Mary Wilson on Drivetime on RTÉ Radio 1, McGuinness was highly critical of Theresa May and her government over their handling of Brexit.
“A British government that appears totally divided at leadership level and really doesn’t know how to process this very difficult situation,” McGuinness said.
His criticism comes just days after a document revealed by The Times appeared to show that May’s government still do not have a plan in place for Brexit.
The memo, dated November 7 and obtained by The Times, suggests that a split in the cabinet is hindering the Government’s ability to plan a negotiating strategy ahead of the commencement of their leaving process next April.
The Deputy First Minister also outlined that Sinn Fein want a special position for Northern Ireland following their vote to remain within the European Union.
“[the Sinn Fein] position is that we want to remain in Europe. We want a specially-designated position for the North, given that the people of the North voted to see their future in Europe,” he said.
