Met Éireann have issued a new snow and ice warning on top of earlier wind warnings

Met Éireann have issued status yellow snow and ice warning for 14 counties as they warned of snow and sleet on Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The warning covers Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Westmeath and Meath and is valid from 10pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday morning.

Earlier on Friday, Met Éireann issued two separate weather warnings ahead of the approaching Storm Dylan.

They status orange weather warning that will affect the entire province of Connacht, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Westmeath and Meath.

The warning comes into effect on at 9pm on Saturday night and warns of high winds from Storm Dylan, with mean wind speeds of 60 to 80km/h and gusts of up to 120km/h expected across Connacht and Ulster on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, a status yellow wind warning for Munster, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Offaly meaning that no part of the country will escape the winds of Storm Dylan.

Both warnings are valid until 6am on Sunday.
