The storm will track south of Ireland tonight.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for three counties ahead of the arrival of Storm Evert to Ireland.
Valid from 3pm on Thursday to 5am on Friday, the weather warning applies to Cork, Waterford and Wexford.
The forecaster has said “heavy or thundery showery rain” is expected, as well as the risk of spot flooding.

Met Éireann has described Evert – which was named by the UK Met Office – as “an unseasonably deep, low pressure” storm, with the heaviest rain and strongest winds set to hit the UK.
That said, it will track south of Ireland tonight, bringing windy conditions offshore.
“Southern counties in Ireland can also expect a spell of wet and breezy weather this evening and tonight,” Met Éireann added.

Meanwhile, the forecaster has said Ireland will see mostly dry conditions over the bank holiday weekend.
It will be rather cloudy, but with some warm sunshine at times and temperatures holding around normal for early August.
