Michael O’Leary has had yet another go at the Luas drivers

Carl Kinsella

It’s pretty rare that anyone appears on Irish radio these days without splitting opinion pretty severely.

But Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary won himself some friends on social today after slamming the striking Luas drivers yet again on Newstalk Breakfast.

The airline CEO, who has previously referred to the Luas drivers as ‘lunatics’ and ‘headbangers’ has gone one further this time and announced that was he in charge, he would ‘sack’ the lot of them.

Again, O’Leary disparaged the line of work, saying: “It’s a job that’s already paid double the rate that it is in Blackpool, where it takes you about two and a half nano seconds to learn how to drive a tram.”

Plenty of people on Twitter agreed with the man from Mullingar.

However, his views on Irish Water were less popular. O’Leary advised everyone to pay the fees, a decidedly less admired view among the public.
