The 11th jackpot win of 2018.
In case you missed it amongst all the Presidential election and blasphemy referendum hubbub, there was one very big winner of Saturday night’s National Lottery jackpot.
That’s right, on Sunday morning one individual has woken up precisely €4,439,459 richer.
The winning ticket was sold in Galway, with the winning numbers of 14 24 30 38 40 45 and a bonus number of 36.
The National Lottery has since confirmed that the golden ticket was sold in Ryan’s Daybreak and Post Office in the village of Milltown in Galway and was purchased on Thursday 25 October.
It marks the 11th Lotto jackpot win of 2018 and the second since the Lotto Plus game enhancements were introduced on 1 September.
The game changes have also seen the creation of two new Irish millionaires who landed the top Lotto Plus 1 prize of a cool €1 million.
The owners of the family-owned shop and post office in Milltown were stunned when they were informed on Sunday morning that they had sold the winning ticket.
One of the shop owners and granddaughter of its founder, Clare O’Connor, said that the entire family is “overjoyed” at the news of the massive win.
“This is a small village eight miles from Tuam and we are the only shop,” said Clare.
But there is a lot of passing traffic so it could be anyone. But we are really hoping it is someone local, that would be very special indeed”
Clare’s grandfather started the shop which was then taken over by her parents, Joe and Anne, who are now semi-retired. The business, which also has a pub, is now run by Clare and her two brothers Tim and John.
A National Lottery spokesperson has appealed to all its Galway players to check their Lotto numbers to see if they are holders of this golden ticket.
