The average starting salary for an Irish graduate working in Dublin is several thousand below the average for the rest of the country, according to new figures from gradireland.
The report, entitled ‘Graduate Salary & Graduate Recruitment Trends Survey 2016′, reveals that things are best for graduates working in the ‘Rest of Leinster’. On average, these new additions to the workforce are earning €29,000 on average.
Otherwise, average starting salaries range from €25,000 in Connaught, Munster and the ‘Rest of Ulster’ to €28,770 in Belfast.
Though graduates in Dublin start off earning the least, it is comfortably the region with the most opportunities – with 54.6% of all employed recent graduates working in the capital.
The best industry to work in is “law, legal services and patents” – where the starting salary is €38,500. These jobs account for only 1.5% of all graduate employment.
Accountancy and financial management, whose average starting salary is €23,000, is the industry accounts for the highest number of all graduate jobs with roughly a quarter of all recent graduates working in the field.
