One man confirmed dead after shooting in Dublin this afternoon, gunmen at large

A man has been killed after a shooting in Drumcondra.

The man died after a group of gunmen, armed with AK47s, entered the hotel during an MGM boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel, Drumcondra and began firing on the crowd. It was initially believed that nobody had been seriously injured.

A subsequent Gardaí press release confirmed that one man had been found dead at the scene, and three other men injured. All men are believed to be in their 20s and 30s.

The scene is sealed off and a technical examination of the area is expected to take place. The Gardaí have not yet arrested anyone in connection with the attack.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area of the Regency Hotel or may have information, to contact them at Ballymun Garda Station on 01 666 4400.
