Oscar Pistorius has been found not guilty of the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The Paralympian received his verdict in Pretoria, South Africa this morning following a trial that has lasted almost seven months. Pistorius admitted that he shot Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013 but said he had mistaken her for an intruder.
Judge Thokozile Masipa says Pistorius can not be found guilty of murder or pre-meditated murder. However, he may still be found guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter).
