Damning figures from a new Focus Ireland report.
A new FOCUS Ireland report, entitled Preliminary Analysis of Children and Families in Emergency Homeless Accommodation, has revealed that 67% of all of Dublin’s homeless families come from just two relatively small areas.
According to The Irish Times, 118 of Dublin’s homeless families come from the Blanchardstown area represented by both Minister for Health Leo Varadkar and Tánaiste Joan Burton.
This accounts for 38% of all homeless families in Dublin.
A further 29% come from the Ballymun/Finglas area in north Dublin.
Other areas particularly bad for homelessness were Lucan, Drumcondra and Crumlin/Drimnagh – accounting for almost all of Dublin’s homelessness cases.
