Pic: Beautiful picture of the Christmas markets and the city of Galway at night

We didn’t need another reason to love Galway, but now we have one anyway.

We didn’t need another reason to love Galway, but now we have one anyway.

There are certain times of the year when it really is hard to be in a better place than Galway.

It’s a great place to be on the rare occasions it gets lovely weather and if you visit at any stage over the summer months you can be pretty much guaranteed that there will be an event or festival of some sort taking place, the highlight being the Galway Races at the end of the July and the beginning of August.

Christmas isn’t a bad place to visit the City of Tribes either, especially when you can wander around the Christmas markets in Eyre Square that have been up for the past number of weeks and will be there until December 22.

The markets really add atmosphere and colour to an already attractive part of the city and that is best illustrated by a gorgeous picture taken by photographer Alexey Zadarov of the markets themselves and the city beyond taken at night recently.

If that doesn’t get you into the Christmas spirit we don’t know what will. Galway, you’ve delivered yet again.

Hat-tip to Allan Cavanagh for his help with this one
