Does the gender of the driver really matter here?
The Garda Traffic account has been getting a lot of publicity of late and for all the right reasons too.
As well as being informative, it’s often very funny and witty and some of the exchanges with the account’s followers have been pure gold.
Last night, however, it faced accusations of sexism after posting the picture below of a crash on the M50 along with a ‘quiz’ asking followers if the driver was male or female.

We’re not sure what the motives were behind the question, but it inevitably prompted withering comments from males and females about the driving ability of the opposite sex.
It also attracted what we would think is justified criticism of the need to actually ask the question in the first place; surely the sex of the driver is not the most important issue here?
@GardaTraffic male or female????? What the hell is that about?? I hope no one was seriously hurt.

We’ll be interested to hear their response.
