If you head on over to Adverts.ie and search for rare coins, you’ll find an offer that looks too good to be true.
That’s because a seller from Dublin appears to be flogging off what he says is a rare €2 coin for just €1. Take a look below (click the image for a bigger picture)…
The coin in question is a commemorative euro coin celebrating 10 years of Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and the creation of the euro.
It was first issued back in 2009 and, according to European Commission, the coin “symbolises that the euro is the latest step in the long history of trade, from pre-historic barter – evoked by the deliberately primitive design – to Economic and Monetary Union.”
Now, you’ve probably heard the phrase, “if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is” and, if you scroll down to the comment section on the advert in question, you’ll see that the €1 deal isn’t actually a deal at all.
According to the seller: “they aren’t up for a €1 they are up for offers hardly gonna sell €2 coins for €1 haha” [sic].
