Lifford garda station is a uniform down.
Gardaí in Donegal are investigating a burglary… on their own station.
The Lifford police are reporting that a man broke into their station last weekend and stole a number of items, including; a hat, stab proof vest and a hi-vis jacket, before making his way into Strabane.

The issue comes in the fact that the station was unmanned at the time, as Lifford no longer operates a full-time garda cover service.
This has caused local politicians to question the lack of garda cover in the area, with local Fianna Fail councillor Gerry Crawford saying:
“This is indicative of what I have been complaining about for a number of years. While gardaí cannot be everywhere all the time, we certainly need more officers on the ground and longer opening hours at Lifford garda station.”
As of today, the search goes on for the man who stole the gear, so if you’re in the area keep an eye out.
