A manhunt is underway for a 19-year-old Pakistani man in the South-West of the country.
Mian Shahid is wanted by UK Police and is believed to have travelled to Limerick on August 11 this year and Gardaí believe that the man is still in the area.
He was last seen in the Foynes areas of Limerick on the 11th of August 2015.
Shahid was convicted, in his absence, of two counts of sexual assault on an 18-year-old woman in Stafford Crown Court in April, and a warrant was issued for his arrest the next day.
Gardaí have received a European arrest warrant for Shahid and are liaising closely with Police Scotland and Staffordshire Police in an effort to bring him into custody.
Gardaí are also asking for anyone with information on the movement of Mian Shahid in Ireland to contact Gardaí.
